Important Update on KnowledgeLab 2020

Last updated: March 18, 2020

Our Statement on the Event Cancellation

After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of the evolving public health situation, the CLMA Board of Directors has decided to cancel KnowledgeLab 2020, March 29 – 31, in Louisville, Kentucky.

CLMA does not take this unprecedented decision lightly. Our primary concern is not only for the safety and well-being of our attendees and vendors, but also for the health and safety of the employees and families you work with and on behalf of in your laboratories. Your time away from the laboratory would have a significant impact on operations during this critical time, and, with that in mind, we as an organization could not ask you to do that.

The very heart of what we do is serve others in times of uncertainty by providing accurate, timely information which is subsequently used to make important decisions, and our work is of the utmost importance during this developing situation.

We appreciate your understanding that this situation is one that is beyond everyone’s control, and we look forward to welcoming you to next year’s event, KnowledgeLab 2021, from March 21 – 23, in Nashville, Tennessee.

If you have already registered for the event, you can expect to receive an email communication in April with more information with next steps and our refund policy.

Please reference our frequently asked questions below for answers to anticipated questions you may have. Should you have additional questions, please contact us via email at info@clma.org. We appreciate, in advance, your ongoing patience as our team navigates this unprecedented time.

CLMA leadership has been monitoring the situation and recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). CLMA does not take this unprecedented decision lightly. CLMA and our members are committed to providing workplace environments that will be healthy and safe, and with this in mind, the most responsible path forward for our members to fulfill that mission was to cancel this year’s event.

Will any sessions be made available virtually?

CLMA is looking into ways we can provide the valuable content from the conference virtually to our attendees and members in the coming months. More information will be shared if and when it becomes available.

How will the conference cancellation impact the organization?

CLMA did not make this decision lightly. Over the coming months, CLMA has many steps to take, including determining and analyzing the financial impact of this drastic, but necessary, cancellation of our annual event.

While we recognize our decision to cancel as the right one, the association’s contracts with many vendors and host hotels require that we work in coordination with our legal counsel and insurance provider to make every effort to ensure the best possible outcome for our organization.

We will provide additional communication to the members as it relates to impact of the future, should it be necessary. We ask for your patience as we work through the process.
