Presented by Robert L. Michel
Panelists: Carol Collingsworth, MBA, MT(ASCP)SC, Jane M. Hermansen, MBA, MT(ASCP), Ron Purkapile, FACHE, MSc, DLM(ASCP)CM

This panel presentation, recorded at KnowledgeLab 2018, identifies specific changes now visible in the laboratory-testing marketplace. Each major trend or change is discussed and analyzed from two perspectives of how it alters the status quo. One perspective is how physicians and other providers utilize clinical laboratory and pathology testing. The other perspective is how this medical laboratory testing is reimbursed, whether by government health programs, by private payers, or by patients. New models of integrated clinical care, such as accountable care organizations and medical homes, will influence and shape the evolution of the clinical laboratory testing marketplace. Opportunities for clinical laboratories and pathology groups to add value for patients, physicians, payers, and hospitals is explained.
