Last week, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics graciously funded a scholarship to pay full tuition for a limited number of individuals to the Clinical Laboratory Management Association’s (CLMA) Fundamentals of Laboratory Leadership (FoLL) program. There has been resounding response to this scholarship from the Clinical Laboratory community, so it is obvious there is great interest in this training but not many opportunities for funding. As a benefit to the Tennessee Clinical Laboratory community, the Volunteer State Chapter of CLMA has decided to offer one scholarship during 2015 for either the FoLL or Advanced Laboratory Leadership (ALL) programs. The FoLL program is for laboratory leaders with three (3) years of experience or less; ALL is for those individuals who have been in leadership positions for a longer period of time. Please click here for additional information about these programs.
Both courses begin with a webinar the week of February 16th and continue with attendance at CLMA’s KnowledgeLab to be held at the Caribe Royale resort in Orlando, FL March 29-April 1. The final 2015 session will be a post-course webinar later in April. The Volunteer State Chapter scholarship will include registration for either the FoLL or ALL courses, plus registration for KnowledgeLab, for a total award of $1125. It will be the responsibility of the awardee or their facility to cover travel, lodging and incidentals while in Orlando. In addition, if not already, we would require the awardee become a member of CLMA and the Volunteer State chapter and attend our Spring Conference to be held on March 19th at the Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, TN.
If you are a current Laboratory Leader or you have staff members who are new to a leadership role, this would be a great way to take a giant step in your/their career! An application form will be sent out later this week from CLMA headquarters, but we wanted to give you a ‘heads up’ so you could be thinking about your own attendance or who in your laboratory might best benefit from this scholarship. Be on the lookout for the link to apply. If you have not received anything by the end of the week, feel free to reach out to one of the Volunteer State CLMA Chapter board members who can make sure the application is forwarded to you.
This is a great opportunity, don’t let it pass you by! And thanks for your interest!
