Capillary Electrophoresis: The Advantages of Automated Electrophoresis in the Clinical Laboratory

Speaker:

Rick Jolliffe, B.S. Mr. Rick Jolliffe is a Technical Product Specialist at SEBIA Electrophoresis.

 

Rick earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Arizona State University. He began his career as a laboratory tech, specializing in immunology, serology and virology, at Sonora-Quest Laboratory, and then was a Night Shift Supervisor at Idexx. Rick has held his current position at SEBIA Electrophoresis since 2006 where he provides product support and training to customers for all SEBIA instrumentation and training kits.

 

Level: Intermediate
This program has been approved by OC-CLMA for 1.0 CEU’s of credit.Participants will be awarded 1.0 CEU’s upon completion of this program.The State of California has approved OC-CLMA as a provider of Continuing Education.

 

Overview/Objectives:

This presentation will provide a review of capillary electrophoresis theory, the benefits of automation, and instruction on how to read and interpret the results. At the end of the seminar, participants will know: How capillary electrophoresis works.The effects of implementing capillary electrophoresis on turnaround times and quality of results.How to read results for assays, including: serum protein electrophoresis, immunotyping (equivalent to immunofixation), and hemoglobin electrophoresis.

From the Santa Ana 5 and Garden Grove 22 Freeways: Exit on The City Drive South. The hospital is at the corner of The City Drive and Chapman Ave. Enter the campus just south of Chapman off of City Drive on Dawn Way and park in the UC Irvine Medical Center Visitor parking structure on your left.
