The Town Hall Series is designed to keep laboratory professionals up to date on legislative issues that impact their laboratories. Congress can have a profound impact on the clinical laboratory industry through changes in Medicare Part B reimbursement, amendments to fraud and abuse legislation, or by seeking to promote the expansion of “pay for performance” concepts. Keeping abreast of those developments ensures that your facility can influence the votes of your members of Congress while also being ready to adapt in the event influential legislation is passed by Congress and signed into law. As the oversight agency for Medicare, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is tasked with implementing legislative changes while also updating coverage and reimbursement policies in light of the evolution of clinical laboratory medicine. These sessions are designed to encourage you to engage members of Congress during the development of legislation, as well as keep you informed.
