As the new health care legislation takes effect, hospitals and systems need to deliver health care more efficiently and with greater emphasis on patient outcomes. Integrated delivery networks, accountable care organizations and primary care homes are all among the models being considered. As the focus shifts from volume of services to impact on outcome, this audioLab how laboratories can be recognized and rewarded for their contributions to patient outcomes.
 
Learning Objectives:

• The participant will be able to describe the four quality domains of accountable care organizations and how they support the five goals of the affordable care act.
• The participant will identify at least two ways that labs can measurably contribute to the outcome measures used by the new payment models.
